Shamrocks roll through 1st round!

Battle tested. These two words give the current perspective of Yuma Catholic Shamrocks football. After all, they survived the gauntlet of a tough first half of the season schedule; where they endured several key injuries and two losses.

After that, Y.C. ran the tables through the rest of the season; notching several consecutive wins on their way to earning an 8th seed in the 3A state playoffs.

Saturday night, they got a rematch with the Casteel Colts in the 1st round of a late season game that was competitive until the Rocks pulled away in the 4th quarter.

This time around, the game was never really competitive. Y.C. would score early and often as they scored two touchdowns in as many drives.

The defense would prove to be stellar, as they shut down the Colts offense, pitching a shutout at their expense.

The Rocks took the 35 to 0 win and will next get a much tougher test, as they travel to Eastern Arizona took take on top seeded Show Low next Saturday night in the 3A quarterfinal round.
