Imperial County preps for Election Day

With an increase in early voting, the Registrar of Voters Office in Imperial County is anticipating a big voter turnout tomorrow.

As of this morning they counted a little more than 14,000 early voter ballots. Of which they have already processed close to 8,000 and will continue to do so throughout the day.

According to Deborah Porter with the Registrar of Voters there was a significant increase in Imperial County early voters compared to other elections. Porter says both the mobile voting services and early weekend voting had a big turnout.

With 17 state propositions on the ballot, Porter says it’s important for voters to be prepared before going to their polling site to avoid holding up the lines.

“There are several voters who are taking an hour plus to vote and this is going to back lines up on election day you don’t want to go in and tie up the lines by sitting there for the first time reading the ballot because there are 17 state propositions on the ballot and it takes a long time to read those yes and nos,” said Porter

If you are still not sure of your voting poll location you can visit the California Secretary of State website at www.sos.ca.gov .

Poll sites open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
