House fire leaves man displaced

A house fire broke out earlier today in El Centro, firefighters were called to the scene on Brighton and Eighth street to put out the flames.

Our news crew was first on scene and spoke to the young lady who made the 9-1-1 phone call.

“I was going to go pick up my brother from school and I was walking out the front door and I just smelled smoke and I freaked out because I thought it was my grandpas lab and I just ran in the house grabbed the phone and called 9-1-1 told him not to worry, because I didn’t want anything to happen to his heart or anything. I told him not to worry and ran out the back and saw smoke coming out from the house next door. I was on the phone with 9-1-1, told them the address and that’s it, they showed up,” explained Yasmin Osoria, 911 caller.

Fire officials tell our news team one person was in the home during the fire but is unharmed. He has been displaced and the Red Cross has been notified. The cause of the fire is being called unintentional but is still under investigation.
