Elders get free health screens

The Yuma County Elders Coalition put together their Second Annual Community Health and Wellness Fair.

The purpose for the event is to raise awareness in the community on elder abuse. The event had more than 10 agencies that provided assistance to elders. The Regional Center for Border Health provided free health screenings during the event Thursday at the Arizona Market Place.

“Health insurance is so costly and if they can at least get a few things checked then they don’t have to pay for it so that’s huge,” said Judy Arnold who is part of the Elders Coalition.

The agencies involved hope to continue doing this in the future.
