Man rescued from Ocotillo desert

A man was rescued without incident in the Ocotillo Wells Desert by Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR).

U.S. Border Patrol agents say the man was reported missing by his family when he didn’t return from an ATV ride in the desert Saturday night.

A ranger with the California Department of Parks and Recreation called Border Patrol agents at the Highway 86 checkpoint to help look for the man.

The man was eventually found around 4 a.m. Monday.

Agents say he was in good health and did not need medical attention.

The man was taken to the Highway 86 checkpoint where he was reunited with his family.
