Local voters react to 2nd presidential debate

It was a heated presidential debate Sunday night in St. Louise, Missouri. Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton went head to head for the second time. Residents in Yuma were watching and several we spoke with ,despite their political affiliation, came to an agreement on one thing… “I think they are more focused on attacking each other than what’s important for us voting for them but I think it could go either way”, said undecided voter Francis Cabral. “If they could just keep it clean then everybody wouldn’t get upset about everything”, said “Miss Stevens” an undecided voter leaning towards Hillary Clinton. A point Yuma County Supervisor Russ Clark agrees with, “The reason they do that is because that’s what intrigues people they are looking for the soap opera type stuff”. Clark, a republican openly supporting Donald Trump, watched all of the debate. You may remember after the first debate in September we spoke with Clark who was disappointed with Trump’s performance at that time. “I think if I were Donald Trump I would want a redo on this one”, Clark said back in September. But this time around things were different for Clark. “I was surprised at Trump’s demeanor he calmed it down quite a bit, overall I thought it was a good debate”, said Clark. A big issue going into Sunday’s debate was a 2005 video capturing Trump on a hot mic making controversial comments about women, for Clark he denounces those comments but says it’s not disqualifying and not altering his support of Trump. “I get more people mad at the prominate republicans withdrawing their support then I do from him having an 11 year old tape”, said Clark. But voters we spoke to think differently. “I think that is just disgusting and just the way Donald Trump is”, said “Miss Stevens. Among all the divisiveness some local voters are hoping for unity on both sides. “Both of them should come together with the consensus that it’s about democracy and what they can do for the people”, said Cabral.
