FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: More heat until 8 pm tonight. Tracking changes ahead for the weekend

Extreme heat will impact Imperial County until 8 pm tonight. Tracking cooler temperatures and higher humidity moving in this weekend, with rain chances on the way.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is EXTENDED until 8 pm tonight for parts of Imperial County due to ongoing extreme heat. Highs will be between 111 and 116 degrees.

An Extreme Heat Warning is also extended and in effect for Imperial County until 8 p.m. tonight.

More heat will still linger into the night, making it a toasty night ahead. Make sure to still take precautions and practice heat safety.

It a gusty and dusty morning in Yuma this morning. And still tracking breezy conditions through the weekend for Yuma County. We have winds coming from the south/southeast and gusts up to 25-30 MPH.

Tracking changes ahead! A ridge of high pressure is staying off toward the east, which will cool down our temperatures, and we will get a break from extreme heat, but it is expected to steer in some monsoonal moisture. Prepare for a warm and humid weekend ahead.

Dew points will remain elevated this weekend as dew points will be trending in the 50s and 60s. Too high for us, so it will be a sticky and muggy weekend.

I am also tracking rain chances late this weekend and early next week.

We can start to see more clouds moving in through the weekend, and rain could trickle in on Sunday. It is looking light and still uncertain with how much rain is possible.

For the weekend, I’m tracking more clouds and cooler temperatures. It will be humid as monsoonal moisture will be moving in.
