Gila Ridge outlasts Kofa

For the past few years, the Kofa Lady Kings have been the gold standard to Yuma area prep volleyball. Under head coach Brittany Garcia’s six year tenure with Kofa, the Lady Kings have almost dominated the entire region through that span of time; making the playoffs in as many seasons.

The only other Yuma area team to challenge their reign has been the Gila Ridge Hawks, who had already beaten them once last season.

In the first of two matches between the two proud programs this fall, the intensity would be as high as ever. As advertised, the match would go the full 5 sets; that would be back and forth until the last set.

The Hawks would come away with the stunning win on Kofa’s floor, with a seven point run to end the 5th set and the match.

Senior Hannah Weller would lead the Hawks with 19 kills, 3 blocks and 15 digs on the night.
