Yuma Elementary School dedicates reading space to U.S. Army Veteran

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - In honor of Veteran's Day, G.W. Carver Elementary School students celebrated the Private Delgado Reading Space, an area dedicated to Private First Class Pedro A Delgado, and funded by the 6.25 Foundation.

Students gathered in the reading space located in the Carver Library to learn about Delgado and the Korean War that he participated in.

"We are honored to be selected by the 6.25 Foundation and to dedicate a reading space to Private Delgado in our Library,” expressed Matthew Buckley, Principal at Carver Elementary School. “This space will give us an opportunity to honor those that served in the Korean War while providing a revitalized space for students to enjoy their reading."

Several 3rd grade students were happy to share what they learned at the reading space, which is what the area was meant to do: encourage others to educate themselves and experience the joys of reading.

The 6.35 Foundation funds library projects to provide educational needs and academic scholarships while also honoring fallen American soldiers, such as PFC Delgado who received the Purple Heart distinction.
