Rotarians are calling on golfers to help local students
The Yuma Crossing Rotary is hosting its annual golf tournament on March 19
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's a game of patience and self-control. Golf matches a player's skill against the elements, a slight breeze can make a major difference.
But, the past time brings men and women to their local greens to sharpen their skill and to escape. That's the very reason why the Yuma Crossing Rotary holds a tournament each year.
The Yuma Crossing Rotary is one of five chapters in Yuma County alone. Internationally, there are more than 5,000-rotaries.
Around the world, Rotarians work together to enrich the lives of those around them. From building schools, providing clean water, and fighting polio, the men and women of the rotary answer a higher calling.
So, on March 19 there will be a shotgun start at the Cocopah Golf and R.V. Resort (6800 Strand Avenue). There will be a $75.00 buy-in for each player.
There will be teams of four with a minimum team handicap of 70 (handicap based on a players' average score at 18-holes). There will also be skins available (prizes given at individual holes) and mulligans will be at play (do-overs).
Funds raised through this year's tournament will go towards Yuma Crossing Rotary programs including scholarships. This event is being sponsored by the Yuma Investment Group, Foothills Bank, First Bank Yuma, Microtel and Oyo Motel.
