Wellton residents learn about EVelution Energy’s project

WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Town of Wellton hosted a Town Hall Thursday night to learn about the new cobalt processing plant from EVelution Energy.

EVelution announced earlier this year the new facility is being built near the Wellton area, and is the first of its kind in the country to be built.

Darren Simmons with the Yuma County Board of Supervisors invited EVelution to hear from residents who wanted to learn more about the facility.

Navaid Alam, President and CEO of EVelution, said he appreciated participating in the Town Hall to give residents a better understanding.

"They wanted more information on water use, water recycling, air quality, air emissions, just information around how we're planning on dealing with that and making sure that we know we're going to be extremely clean and green and keep the community safe," Alam expressed.

The Town Hall received positive reaction from residents, and construction is set to begin early to mid next year.
