Local car club donates money to Cancer Center

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local car club presented a check to the Yuma Cancer Resource Center Saturday morning.

The New Class Car Club raised $14,750 during their annual car show earlier this year, with $12,000 of the money going towards gas vouchers while the remaining $2,500 goes toward gift cards from Texas Roadhouse.

Club President Jose Marquez and Christine Jones, a Cancer Center volunteer, shared what the donation means to them.

"We all have family members. We all have friends [and] coworkers that are going through cancer," Marquez expressed.

"It does help so many patients with their journeys through cancer...And so, I know [the club puts] a lot of work into it in the background. But from that one day, that's the money that they give us and we really appreciate it," Jones added.

During the presentation, the club announced next year's car show happening on January 24 at the old Sears parking lot located on Fourth Avenue.
