U.S. announces big hike in Medicare premiums

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - The U.S. government has announced its largest hike in medicare 'Part B' premiums since 2016.

It is a 14% increase and will take monthly payments for those in the lowest income bracket from about $148 to about $170 in 2022.

Part B coverage includes physician services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, medical equipment, and medications given in a doctor's office.

Some experts estimate it will cost $56,000 a year per patient.
