Celebrate at-home cinco de mayo with local restaurants
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's a coincidence that cinco de mayo fell on a taco Tuesday. Although the community cannot celebrate in person, local restaurants are improvising by bringing the celebration to your home.
Popular local spots like El Charro Cafe and Chretin's Restaurant and Cantina have specials for this holiday including boxes of tacos, quesadillas and many other traditional Mexican dishes. Alcohol to-go is also available.
This isn't stopping the community of Yuma from partaking in this celebration. Brianna Villa from El Charro Cafe says there are still opportunities to carry on the festivities.
"We're lucky to be open, and we're happy to still be serving the community," said Villa, "And excited that everyone's still placing their orders and they're still wanting to participate in their cinco de mayo festivities at home."
The celebration still lives on, but these local restaurants are looking forward to the day they can reopen their doors. Owner of Chretin's Restaurant and Cantina, Robby Rodriguez is eager for the in-person dining because it adds to the thrill of the enviroment.
"It's the atmosphere of the restaurant that they like going to," said Rodriguez, "I mean, I know that we miss our customers. We miss the noise and the panic and the rush."
