Ticket holder in Illinois wins over $1 billion Powerball jackpot

(NBC, KYMA) - One lucky ticket holder in Illinois matched all the numbers to win Wednesday night's Powerball jackpot.

Powerball officials say a single ticket sold in Illinois matched all five numbers and the Powerball, making it the eighth-largest jackpot in the game's history.

The winning numbers are four, 26, 66, 67, and 69, with a Powerball of nine.

The winner can take the $1.04 billion prize as an annuity paid over 29 years, or choose a lump sum of about $450.5 million before taxes.

The jackpot had been growing since the last Powerball win on May 2.

The largest Powerball jackpot ever was $2.04 billion in 2022, and the jackpot now resets to $20 million for the next drawing.

Powerball is played across 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
