Tension between U.S. and Iran continues to raise oil prices

(NBC,KYMA) - The price of oil jumped 5% Wednesday after an 11th straight night of U.S. strikes in Iran.

The price of international Brent crude surpassed $95 per barrel for the first time in nearly six weeks.

U.S. crude hit $89 per barrel.

Brent crude is generally considered the international benchmark and it influences the cost of oil produced in the U.S.

The rising price of oil is already being felt at the gas pump where AAA reports the national average is $4.06 per gallon.

Prices have been on the rise since tensions rekindled between the U.S. and Iran and the world oil market deals with shipping disruptions to major supply routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
