More than 500,000 packages of ready-to-eat macaroni and cheese sold at Aldi stores recalled

(NBC, KYMA) - Aldi shoppers are being urged to take a closer look at a popular refrigerated food item after a nationwide recall was announced.

More than 500,000 packages of ready-to-eat macaroni and cheese sold at Aldi stores across the country are being pulled from shelves because of an undeclared allergen.

The recall affects 20-ounce containers of Park Street Deli Macaroni & Cheese.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, the product may contain soy lecithin, an known allergen that was not listed on the packaging.

Consumers who purchased the affected product are advised not to eat it and should return it to an Aldi store for a full refund.
