Costco sees record demand for gas

(CNN, KYMA) - With skyrocketing gas prices, Costco is seeing a record demand for gas.

During last week's quarterly earnings call, the company says some of its 747 gas stations have needed tanker trucks to replenish fuel several times a day.

The company also said the demand for gas at its stations is the highest in its 50-year history.

Costco makes only a few cents per gallon on gas, undercutting local stations.

Gas prices are also bringing new customers and more warehouse traffic, where the company says people spend even more money.

In the future, Costco will be keeping a close eye to see if those new customers keep returning to shop.
