Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to 60,000 employees

(NBC, KYMA) - Microsoft is looking to reduce its global workforce by 25%.

The Windows maker said they're offering voluntary buyouts to some 60,000 employees, seeking to offset costs as it diverts billions of dollars into AI investments.

Earlier this year, Microsoft offered a similar deal to around 9,000 of its employees.

The company said it made nearly $175 billion worth of investments in 2026, and will report its first-quarter results after the market closes Wednesday.
