Anthropic releases initial public offer paperwork ahead of stock debut

(NBC, KYMA) - Anthropic, one of the companies on the cutting edge of artificial intelligence, released its initial public offer (IPO) paperwork Monday ahead of its likely stock debut.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said revenue reached more than $16 billion in the first half of the year, 14 times its revenue in the first half of the previous year.

Despite the explosive growth in revenue, Anthropic still lost $60 billion in the first half of 2026.

The developer of the Claude chatbot is expected to offer shares to the public sometime next month.

Anthropic's share price, the number of shares to be sold and the company's valuation are yet to be determined, but the company could reach a valuation of $2 trillion.

The largest IPO in history was SpaceX in June of this year, but Anthropic's public offering could surpass it.
