Federal judge orders White House to restore temporary access for three news outlets

(NBC, KYMA) - A federal judge is ordering the White House to restore access for three news outlets, CNN, Politico and MS NOW, at least temporarily.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a 14-day temporary restraining order, finding the outlets are likely to succeed in their legal challenge.

Judge Kelly said their passes were revoked without notice or an opportunity to be heard, raising due-process concerns.

The ruling follows a directive from President Donald Trump barring the three outlets last week.

President Trump criticized Kelly before Wednesday's hearing, and said he expected the judge to rule against him.

Trump also said he would appeal the decision.
