Karoline Leavitt to step down as White House Press Secretary

WASHINGTON (CBS, KYMA) - White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced she will be departing her role at the end of this month.

In a post to X, Leavitt said she "cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary."

President Donald Trump also posted about Leavitt's departure to Truth Social, saying, "Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors."

Leavitt, 28, is the youngest person to serve in the role of White House Press Secretary, and she recently returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child, a daughter.

There is no indication just yet on who might be the next White House Press Secretary.
