Satellite images show White House ballroom construction

(CNN, KYMA) - New satellite imagery over Washington, D.C. shows the area outside the White House where the East Wing was demolished and initial construction began on President Donald Trump's proposed ballroom.

The image was taken Saturday, showing what's left of the East Wing on the upper left.

The image also shows an area in the center where a large platform is being installed for the upcoming UFC match on the White House South lawn.

President Trump has initiated multiple building projects across the Capitol, but many have been met with lawsuits because the administration did not seek approval from congress or input from historic planning commissions.
