Yuma City Council honors survivors

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Yuma City Council meeting touched on the future of the local aerospace industry and recognized an important issue affecting families in the community.

Council members discussed local leaders' recent trip to Mexico City, where they took part in meetings supporting the Yuma Spaceport and the growth of the binational aerospace industry.

The council also proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Yuma.

"We stand in support of victims and survivors of domestic violence and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a safe and compassionate community," said Yuma Mayor Doug Nicholls.

Members of Amberly's Place, a local organization that supports survivors of domestic violence, were in attendance for the proclamation.

The proclamation recognized survivors and reinforces the city's commitment to supporting those affected by domestic violence.
