Carlos ‘Yogi’ Fonseca runs for Calexico City Council

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA) - A founder of the Clean Calexico organization is proposing an increase in cleanup efforts to improve the city's image.

Carlos "Yogi" Fonseca is the one of the founders of the organization, which holds cleanup events every weekend in the city. 

The business owner proposes addressing the presence of people experiencing homelessness on the Main Streets of downtown, saying it directly affects visitors and local businesses.

"We need to have a clean city. How are people, how are family members going to bring their their kids to an area that's polluted with fecal matter and with and with, drug usage, rampant drug usage, open drug usage," Fonseca remarked. "Nobody wants and wants to have that. Nobody wants to bring their kids and and see fecal matter on the floor."

He is one of the seven candidates running for Calexico City Council in the November 3 election.
