President Trump threatens to block the opening of Gordie Howe Bridge

(CBS, KYMA) - President Donald Trump is threatening to block the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge, and is insisting that the United States should be "fully compensated for everything we have given them."

In a post to social media, President Trump stated "With all that we have given them, we should own, perhaps, at least one half of this asset. The revenues generated because of the U.S. Market will be astronomical."

The president also criticized Ontario for not putting U.S. alcoholic products on their shelves and the Canadian tariffs on U.S. dairy products, calling it "unacceptable."

The bridge began construction in 2018 and was expected to open in early 2026, and is owned by both Canada and Michigan.
