President Trump issues first vetoes of his second term

White House

(CNN, KYMA) - President Donald Trump has issued the first vetoes of his second term as he blocked two bipartisan infrastructure-related bills passed by Congress.

The president says that vetoing both measures is necessary to save taxpayer dollars.

One bill would have affected tribal land and flooding mitigation in Florida. The other, sponsored by trump ally, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), targeted water pipeline payments in Colorado.

After the veto, Rep. Boebert said on social media, "This isn't over."

Congress can override President Trump's veto by passing the bill again with a two-thirds majority in both chambers.
