Senate confirms Herschel Walker as U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas

(NBC, KYMA) - The Senate has confirmed Herschel Walker as the U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas.

President Donald Trump nominated Walker for the post last year after the retired running back entered the political fray by running as the Republican nominee in Georgia's 2022 Senate race.

He lost to incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock by 2.8 points in a runoff.

Walker is the first Senate-confirmed ambassador to the Bahamas in over a decade.

Walker, along with more than 100 other Trump nominees, were confirmed Tuesday in a single 51-47 vote that fell along party lines.
