Federal judge blocks DOGE from accessing sensitive personal information

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A federal judge is blocking the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing sensitive personal information.

Maryland Judge Deborah Boardman ruled Monday that DOGE may not access data from three key agencies: The Department of Education, the Office of Personal Management and Department of Treasury.

In her ruling, the judge said DOGE had "likely violated" the law when they gained access to Social Security numbers, dates of birth, home addresses, bank information, income and assets, and citizenship status.

The ruling is one of many that have recently pused to tamp down the scope of Elon Musk's DOGE.
