Yuma residents react to shooting at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma residents are reacting to the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, as investigators continue to release details about the incident.

Some said they were not surprised, pointing to what they describe as growing political tension in the United States in recent years.

One resident, Jose Cuevas, said he believes the political climate has been escalating over the past 10 years.

Cuevas said he believes people should focus on respect and calmer dialogue, even when they disagree.

Another resident said the incident highlights broader concerns about political violence in the country.

Residents say they hope to see less division and fewer incidents of violence moving forward.
