Arizona certifies election results
Certification cements Biden win - allows Kelly to take Oath of Office
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's official - Joe Biden is the winner in Arizona.
State officials certified the state's election results Monday morning, formalizing the Democrat's narrow victory over President Donald Trump.
Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs certified the election results alongside Gov. Doug Ducey, Attorney General Mark Brnovich, both Republicans, and State Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Brutinel.
"Transparency, accuracy, and fairness, in accordance with Arizona's laws and elections procedures, despite numerous, unfounded claims to the contrary." said Hobbs after signing off on the election.
"I also want to thank all of the county election officials who overcame significant challenges we faced heading into this election and administered what was easily the smoothest and according to outgoing CISA Director Chris Krebbs most secure election in recent history" she added.
President Trump's attorney continues to call the state's vote count fraudulent, but so far Arizona judges have rebuked the campaign's legal challenges.
The ballot certification opens the door for Senator-elect Mark Kelly to take his Oath of Office. Gov. Doug Ducey addressed that after the certification.
"The votes have been tabulated. All 15 counties have certified their results. In addition to certification, with Senator-Elect Mark Kelly winning the general election, I will be signing official documentation today that will be hand-delivered to the Secretary of the United States Senate so that Arizona's newest Senator can be sworn into office as swiftly as possible." said Gov. Ducey.
Kelly will be sworn in Wednesday morning at nine Arizona time.
