UPDATE: 12:07 pm

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Democratic Party is celebrating more than the election of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States of America.

In a statement released early Saturday afternoon, Party Chair Felecia Rotellini cited the achievements Democrats have made both nationally, and at a state level:

Felecia Rotellini

“Arizona Democrats have made history. The Grand Canyon State is now blue.

We now have two Democratic Senators, an achievement we have not seen in over 50 years. And Arizona has delivered its 11 electoral college votes to now President-elect Joe Biden.

We are a part of the broadest coalition ever assembled by a Democratic presidential nominee in Arizona. From leaders like our Congressional Delegation, our Mayors and our state legislators, to voters from all walks of life and every corner of our state, people of faith and conscience— we’ve built the kind of team we needed to succeed.

I want to thank the Arizona Democratic Party staff, Mission For Arizona and the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee for their tireless work and our volunteers and community organizers for their commitment and perseverance in this election and in elections past.

I want to acknowledge our Democratic Counties and Legislative Districts for their resilience and leadership. Our teams across the state ran an extraordinary early voting program and an unprecedented “get out the vote” effort that led to Arizonans casting more votes in early voting than cast in all of 2016.

Thank you to all of our candidates, up and down the ballot, for continuing the fight for Arizona families. Your courage and fortitude paved the way for so many victories and this record voter turnout.

Finally, thank you to the voters of Arizona. These victories truly transcend party politics. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents came together to elect leaders that will put the people first. The future looks bright for our great state and nation.”

-Felecia Rotellini, Arizona Democratic Party Chairperson

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Representative Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) is celebrating the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

The Congressman sent out this statement Saturday morning:

Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.)

“After four years of division, hate, and the outright assault on our values and institutions, the American people have firmly rejected President Trump. They braved a pandemic, the weather, and voter suppression efforts to cast their ballots and vote toward moving out country in a different direction, one that celebrates our diversity, humanity, and the dignity of every person.

“This is a win for science-based solutions to tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and safely returning our students to school and putting our families back to work. It’s a win for real action to combat the climate crisis and protect our planet and environment for generations to come. It’s a win for transforming our immigration system into one that puts families first. But this isn’t just a win for Biden supporters, it’s a win for all Americans who love this country, love their neighbors, and want to see everyone not just scaping by to survive, but thrive.

“The American people have spoken, and I urge President Trump to respectfully concede and commit to a peaceful transition of power that all other Presidents have undertaken since the founding of our country.”

- Rep. Raúl Grijalva, (D-Ariz.)

"I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris.

In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted. Proving once again, that democracy beats deep in the heart of America.

With the campaign over, it’s time to put the anger and the harsh rhetoric behind us and come together as a nation.

It’s time for America to unite. And to heal.

We are the United States of America. And there’s nothing we can’t do, if we do it together."

-President-elect Joe Biden

UPDATE: 10:00 am

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Senator Kyrsten Sinema, (D-Ariz.) offered her thanks to the people of Arizona for the election of President-Elect Joe Biden.

In a statement released Saturday morning, Sen. Sinema writes:

"Arizonans voted in record-breaking numbers to support pragmatic, practical leaders who will bring Americans together and heal our country's divisions. Today's election results represent a chance to deliver on the needs of everyday Americans, rather than a mandate to pursue partisan goals that could further divide Americans. Now is the time to deliver critical relief to Arizona families and employers, make health care more affordable, deliver for our veterans, and expand opportunities for Americans across the country - all while keeping our nation safe and secure. President-elect Biden and I do not agree on every issue, and just as I did when working with President Trump, I will always vote based on what's right for Arizona and will continue working with anyone to get things done for our state. I pledge to continue working across the aisle, seeking compromise instead of sowing division - because we are in this together. Regardless of who each of us voted for, Americans deserve a government that is worthy of us and working for us."

- Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, (D-Ariz.)

The race for President remains too close to call in Arizona. However, the outcome will not affect the outcome. Biden secured enough electoral college delegates to win the White House when he won Pennsylvania.
