Katie Hobbs advancing to the general election, Republican primary too close to call
There's some clarity in the Arizona governor's race - FOX 9's Adam Klepp reports
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - All eyes are on the governor’s races, especially the Republican side.
Polls have Karrin Taylor Robson and Kari Lake neck and neck for the nomination.
Taylor Robson says she’s confident in getting the majority in Yuma County because of the local endorsements she received.
"When I was last in Yuma, I met and picked up the endorsement of the Yuma mayor, County Supervisors Jonathan Lines," Taylor Robson said. "We had a great conversation about water and what’s really going on in Yuma.”
Kari Lake touted her own endorsements, most notably that of former President Donald Trump.
She said if elected she would declare an invasion on the southern border her first day in office.
“We’ve seen what weak leadership does in this country, and it’s going to take strong leaders to get us out," Lake said. "We are a sovereign state. We are not a serf of the federal government. And I plan on reminding the federal government of that day one.”
On the Democratic side, current Secretary of State Katie Hobbs won by a significant margin.
She used her victory speech to throw a jab at her potential primary opponent.
"It's really great to be in a room full of people who are focused on the upcoming election rather than spreading conspiracy theories about the last one," Hobbs said.
