Seaplane carrying eight makes hard landing in East River

NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA) - A small seaplane carrying eight people crashed into the East River in New York Sunday, according to New York officials.

The crash being described by witnesses as a hard landing was reported around noon.

Witnesses say the plane appeared to come close to a helicopter observing a separate boat rescue prior to the seaplane crash.

Rescue boats quickly responded to the crash as the plane was bobbing in the river, which was caught on video by nearby on lookers.

All eight people on board were pulled out of the aircraft safely, and at least two people were treated for minor injuries.
