Off highway vehicle fatal crash on Sunday

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to an off highway vehicle fatal crash.

Straightaway, the incident occurred on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at approximately 5:25pm.

Furthermore, there were two occupants, both male, driving a 2018 Can-Am X3 along the Imperial San Dunes Recreation Area (Glamis).

The first occupant was a 51-year-old male from Phoenix, Arizona while the other occupant was a 48-year-old male from Estes Park, Colorado.

Details about the crash

For unknown reasons, the 51-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries, resulting in his death.

On the other hand, the 48-year-old passenger did not suffer any injuries.

Both driver and passenger wore their seatbelts at the time at the time of the crash.

Aftermath

As the case remains ongoing, there was no indication if impairment factored into the crash.

Additionally, authorities notified the Imperial County Coroner's Office (ICCO) and responded to the scene.

From there, the ICCO took possession of the deceased driver and will reveal his name once they notify the family.
