Spirit Airlines plane makes emergency landing in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebr. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A Spirit Airlines plane made an emergency landing in Lincoln Monday afternoon.

The plane was heading from Detroit to Los Angeles when a suspected mechanical issue was reported.

Flight 706 was diverted to Lincoln Airport out of an abundance of caution.

First responders were on the scene as a precaution, and the aircraft taxied to a gate where all 188 people on board safely deplaned.

Spirit Airlines says the aircraft will be taken out of service and thoroughly evaluated by its maintenance team.

No injuries were reported.
