KYMA

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A man accused of murdering an Imperial County woman back in 2021 did not appear in court on Tuesday.

41-year-old Antonio Campos Ramirez was expected to show up for his arraignment at the Supreme Court in Brawley Tuesday morning.

But Ramirez was not present due to a COVID outbreak at the Imperial County Jail where he is currently held.

Attorney Armando Galvan was appointed Tuesday morning and will now take his case.

“He is being charged with murder, rape, and other a less included defense of those sup sections," said Criminal Defense Attorney Armando Galvan.

The Imperial County Sheriff's Office extradited Ramirez two weeks ago in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Ramirez is scheduled to appear in court next week.
