Local politicians share views on Trump’s indictment announcement

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) -  Former President Donald Trump is expected to surrender to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office for arraignment next week on Tuesday.

Two sources familiar with the case tell us the plan is for Trump to appear before acting Justice Juan Merchan for his felony arraignment.

Chennell Ramos spoke with two local politicians and ask for their reaction to the grand jury's announcement.

“To me this is a political witch hunt by the New York Attorney General and I think it’s a travesty of justice. I think we look forward..there has never has an indictment of president before they’ve always looked into these cases and figured things out but I think its a political witch hunt," said Representative Tim Dunn, (R-Arizona).

"It's not a surprise, we've been hearing that this might be coming for some time now. I'm gonna reserve judgment until the courts decide what to do. I would hope that other people would do the same. In our country, you are always innocent until proven guilty. You never really know what the real story is," said Senator Brian Fernandez (D-Arizona).

Trump's lawyers released a statement saying Trump "did not commit any crime" and they will "vigorously fight this political prosecution in court."
