Sex trafficking causes concern in Yuma

Reported incidents align with Human Trafficking Awareness month

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As of 2021, Arizona ranked 13th nationally in reported sex trafficking incidents, according to the national trafficking hotline.

Each Yuma citizen, regardless of demographic status is at risk, while adolescent girls remain at the highest risk.

"When you work in this system and you see twelve and thirteen-year-old girls that are dating these older guys, maybe fifteen and sixteen that are using them to make money for them, of course, it's an issue", said Estrella Fitch CEO and Founder of The Healing Journey.

To report any suspicious activity regarding sex trafficking please contact local law enforcement or call the Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
