First-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett out as Broncos head coach
Hackett, Broncos part ways after blowout loss Sunday leading to 4-11 start
(KYMA, KECY/ AP News) - In a post-Christmas lump of coal, for some, rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett made his way out of the door of the Denver Broncos organization Monday.
The Broncos parted ways with Hackett after a 51-14 blowout loss to a less than stellar Los Angeles Rams team Sunday night - leading to a 4-11 record.
Hackett was hired to replace Vic Fangio in the offseason, joining Russell Wilson as the new faces of the franchise.
Yet, Wilson has posted his worst season of his career with just 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions in a Denver offense that has refused to get over any kind of successful hump.
Team owner and CEO Greg Penner said he’ll lead the search for a new coach, scheduling a news conference for Tuesday to discuss the changes.
