Riverside County authorities seize 18.5 kg of fentanyl

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Riverside County Gang Impact Team (GIT) had seized 18.5 kilograms of fentanyl.

According to a press release, the GIT team collaborated with the U.S. Postal Service to investigate the illegal shipping though the U.S. mail.

Through the U.S. Postal Service's earlier investigation, the team issued an arrest warrant for Ignacio Alcala, charging him with alleged drug trafficking.

The GIT team then arrested Alcala as he was leaving his apartment in the area near Madrid Street and W. Devonshire Ave.

After that, the team searched his apartment and seized the aforementioned 18.5 kilograms of fentanyl, an estimated street value of more than $3 million.

Not only that, the team found a half-pound bag of methamphetamines, a fully-loaded automatic "ghost" gun, and another firearm previously reported stolen.
