SUV crashes into a CA post office, police investigates

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (NBC) - Mountain View authorities are investigating after a woman accidentally crashed her vehicle into a U.S. post office.

The woman crashed her BMW SUV into an area of the store where the P.O. boxes are located.

The driver says she didn't put the vehicle into park, and when she turned to grab some items from the back seat, her foot came off of the brake.

In her attempt to stop as quickly as possible, she said she may have hit the accelerator instead of the brake before slamming into the post office.

Police said the post office was open at the time of the crash, but no one sustained injuries.

And the establishment stayed open as crews cleaned up and police investigated.

While the cause of the crash remains unclear, details surrounding the incident are developing.
