Calexico police looking for suspect who robbed gas station
The Calexico Police Department is looking for a suspect who robbed a gas station at gunpoint
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Five Brothers gas station, right across the street from Denny's was robbed Friday morning.
Calexico police say the suspect threatened the clerk with a small-caliber handgun and then chased the clerk out of the store.
“When the clerk went outside the store the suspect jumped the front counter stole some smart watches and other items and then fled southbound on Imperial West,” said sergeant Acuña.
Officers say that the clerk was scared and later manage to find a way to call the police.
"He was scared to point that when he was being chased by the suspect he actually knocked down a shelf to slow the advance of the suspect that was closing in on him," said sergeant Acuña.
A resident from Calexico that comes to this gas station daily says he is concerned about the robbery and the crime in Calexico overall.
"To be honest there is a great insecurity in Calexico It is what I feel, It can happen to anyone and I want the police to understand that, I want to be more secure and come get gas but it's not easy, I don’t want to come out anymore," said Josue Lopez, a resident in Calexico.
The suspect was wearing a black face mask, blue hoodie, light blue jeans, and blue Airwalk shoes.
