Rivalry takes a turn this 79th annual bell game

Central Spartans look to take back the bell while Brawley Wildcats look to hold onto it

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - It's that time of the year when the bell is ringing.
This time around its echo can be heard inside the hallways of Brawley Union Highschool.

Brawley's quarterback Ethan Gutierrez will be playing in his fourth and final bell game. He says the cherry on top would be keeping the bell in Brawley.

"I felt like that was everything I wanted all my goals being in high school and that is one thing we look forward to is playing Brawley football and winning games," he said.

But Central's Skylar cook disagrees, as he remembers the bitter feeling when he had to hand the bell over to the wildcats himself.

"It was definitely a different feeling seeing both sides celebrate," he said.
