Gila Ridge’s Martinez represents Yuma at state girls golf meet

Gila Ridge senior Emma Martinez is the only golfer to represent Yuma at state golf meet in Yuma

TUSCON, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV) - Golf is often an individual sport and on Monday, Gila Ridge senior Emma Martinez not only represented her high school at the AIA state girls golf meet at the Omni Tuscon National, Catalina Course on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, Martinez finished the 18 holes on day shooting a 107. On Tuesday, she finished strong posting a 98.

"I'm so proud of Emma for her dedication over the past four years," Gila Ridge head coach Travis Bogart said. "She's been a great leader in our program. We will miss her positive attitude and wish her all the best in the future."

Emma finished the state tournament placing 54th overall. Emma is the only player in Yuma, on the boys or girls golf teams teams to qualify for the state tournament.
