EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - For the first time ever El Centro regional medical center has opened a women’s health center.
The pandemic paused the plans of the center about two years ago but now it’s ready to serve all women in imperial county.
The new women’s health center is offering extensive gynecology services to women of all ages.
One the purposes of center is to serve the women of imperial county without them having to travel out of town.
"Dr. Chibas is going to be providing gynecological examinations and services to the women in the valley so that they don’t have to leave the valley," said Dr. Adolphe Edward, ECRMC chief executive officer.
The center is located inside of the hospital and currently has four doctors but plans is to add more.
Dr.Adolphe Edward says he’s thankful for this moment and everyone at the center.
“This is one of those days where I am so proud of El Centro Regional Medical center and the work that we are doing in the community...we want to continue to serve the women of the county," said Dr.Adolphe Edward.
Dr. Marisel Chibas, gynecologist and director of the center says she was inspired by the community of imperial county and wanted to help women with her services.
"I ended up here for good reasons. I felt that like everywhere else there is need but also that here I could practice medicine the way I was taught to give quality care," said Dr. Marisel Chibas.
