Former National Security Agency employee arrested for under Espionage Act
(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - A former National Security Agency employee was arrested Wednesday on espionage-related charges.
According to the U.S. Justice Department, 30-year-old Jareh Dalke is accused of trying to sell U.S. secrets to an undercover FBI agent who he believed was a representative of a foreign government.
The Colorado man worked as an information systems security designer for less than a month.
He left in early July, citing a situation with his family, and reportedly began corresponding with the undercover agent weeks later.
Dalke made his first appearance in court Thursday.
Convictions under the Espionage Act carry sentences of up to life in prison or a potential death sentence.
