New study on monkey pox and HIV

(KYMA,KECY/CNN) -A new study shows people who have gotten monkey pox are also more likely to have h-i-v and other viral infections.

Researchers found 38 percent of the patients with monkey pox also had HIV

41 percent of the monkeypox patients also had reported one or more  s-t-i's in the past year.

Younger adults with monkey pox were less likely to have HIV.

The highest populations to show co-infection with HIV were adults 55 and older.

Researchers say the findings suggest people with HIV might need to be prioritized for monkey pox vaccinations.

The CDC conducted the study.
