US life expectancy hits lowest point in decades

(KYMA/KECY/CNN) - U.S life expectancy is at its lowest point in decades.

That's according to datafrom the cdc that found life expectancy dropped by nearly a year between 20-20 and 20-21 -

And by more than two and a half years overall since the start of the covid-19 pandemic.

Life expectancy now stands at 76-point-one years.

That’s the lowest it has been in the u-s since 19-96, and the biggest 2-year decline in a century.

The c-d-c says covid-19 was the driving factor, with deaths from the virus contributing to half of the decline from 20-20 to 20-21.
