The matchup gave both first year head coaches a chance to see their teams in action against another squad - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports
WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The offseason grind continues for local football teams.
The Antelope and Kofa High School football programs held a seven on seven scrimage earlier on Thursday.
The Rams played host to the practice…
Which also gave both first year head coaches a chance to see some live reps.
Coach Alfonzo Brown of Kofa, and coach Doug South of Antelope.
Both excited to get their team some practice ahead of their upcoming seasons.
“It gives the guys a good chance to get out here and get the chemistry straight, kind of work out some of the younger kids who have never played on this level before, we got a lot of 10th graders this year on our our team so, get them the varsity reps they need to get where we want them to be when our first game comes around,” Brown said.
“It just gives us an opportunity, because we’ve had five practices this summer because I got here first week of July, so we’ve practiced five times so it kind of gives us a good change up than just practicing,” South said.
Kofa’s season will kick off on the road Sept 9 against Palo Verde Valley.
The Rams will also kick things off on the road on Aug 26 against Mountainside.
